Community Employment Services
The Community Employment Services program places individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs in community-based jobs where they receive on-site, individualized training and ongoing support.
Goodwill job coaches provide interviewing skills and assist individuals once they are hired. The job coach's primary responsibility is to work side-by-side with a newly placed Goodwill program participant to demonstrate the required job duties. As the individual becomes more confident in the job, the job coach gradually reduces his or her guidance. Individuals progress along career paths toward becoming independent, contributing members of their communities.
Businesses Who Hire Include:
Work Skills Development Program
Goodwill's Work Skills Development Program (WSDP) is a multi-functional learning center which focuses on teaching job skills to individuals with disabilities. Program participants learn skills such as reading the classifieds, interviewing for a job and gaining appropriate social skills in the workplace. WSDP allows individuals to continue learning job skills once they graduate from high school.
A fully accessible computer lab is available and provides training in special computer programs needed to obtain an office position.
Industrial Services Division
Many individuals with disabilities choose not to work in the community. For these individuals, Goodwill offers a small, close-knit work environment where employees are paid a piece rate for collating & stuffing mailings and counting & packaging items among other tasks. Focus on the Family and Chef's Catalog are just a couple local businesses that rely on Goodwill for their production needs.
