Every day, a network of 160 Goodwills across the country generates opportunities for people to become independent by offering employment services and other community programs for people with economic disadvantages and disabilities.
Goodwill no longer has a presence in Pueblo after closing its retail store last summer. As a way to continue meeting the community’s needs, Goodwill Industries International recently selected the Goodwill located in Colorado Springs to begin serving Pueblo residents.
The Goodwill located in Colorado Springs has served its surrounding communities for 50 years. In fact, in 2009, the organization helped over 72,000 people – a number double what it was three years ago. Currently, Goodwill has nine stores including locations in Grand Junction, Canon City, Woodland Park and Fountain which fund programs and services that help people become independent. The organization is proud to improve lives and positively impact the financial health of the communities it serves.
“We are excited to rebuild a Goodwill presence in Pueblo,” said Goodwill Board Chairman Peggy Gardner. “We are committed to the people of southern Colorado and feel this continuum of service will benefit our communities.”
Goodwill expects to begin serving shoppers and donors by opening a retail center this fall. Shoppers will be able to find name brand fashions for the whole family, house wares, books, electronics, children’s items and sporting goods. The retail store, which will employ approximately 35 people, will have amenities similar to Goodwill’s other store locations.
Once the retail center is established, Goodwill plans to provide rehabilitation services after assessing Pueblo residents’ needs.
